Biography

Sílvio Vaz Jr holds a BSc degree in chemistry, an MSc degree in physical chemistry and a Doctorate degree in analytical chemistry from the University of São Paulo. He was previously a director and partner of two private analytical laboratories providing environmental analysis. He is now a research scientist at the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa) working on the development of renewable chemicals from biomass and the application of analytical chemistry to bioenergy. He is also a member of important scientific societies in the chemical sciences and has published articles and books related to renewable chemistry and analytical chemistry.
