Subhash C. Basu is a Professor emeritus of Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, University of Notre Dame. He will be the President of CDDRF Cancer Drug Delivery Research Foundation to be established at Notre Dame. He completed his PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI 1961-66. He completed his BSc in Chemistry Honors from Calcutta University, Calcutta, India in 1960. He is an elected Fellow of AAAS, 1988. He received Jacob Javits Neurological Research Award from NIH, 1988-98. He received Distinguished Biochemist Medal from the Calcutta University in 1989. He became an inducted member of the John Hopkins Honor Society in 1995. He is serving as an editorial board member of three reputed journals Glycoconjugate J, J Current Drug Targets and J Bioanalysis and Biomedicine and as a reviewer of 5 other journals. He has more than 250 publications in National and International Journals. Almost 170 researchers including 25 PhD, 25 post doctorals, 120 technicians visiting scientists and undergraduate Biochemistry major students have been trained in BasuLab during the last 39 years. Presently he is involved in the research of breast and colon cancer therapy using Liposome Magic Bullets containing newly discovered Apoptotic agents; the potential anticancer drugs. He will be establishing CDDRF Current Drug Delivery Research Foundation at the Innovation Park Building in Notre Dame for continuation of the present research and to help other laboratories inside and outside of UND campus working in this area of research.
