I have a Bachelor degree in Pharmacy and MSc in Clinical Pharmacy. I have practiced Pharmacy for over 9 years in hospital, academia and health system where I was involved in providing lectures, delivering clinical pharmacy services and undertaking clinical research. Currently, I am an Assistant professor of Clinical Pharmacy; Coordinator, Research and Postgraduate program, School of Pharmacy; Member, institutional review Board, College of Health Sciences, Jimma University. I have worked at various capacities in Department of pharmacy, Jimma University including team leader for clinical pharmacy unit, research and postgraduate program coordinator. I have been involved as a lead trainer and consultant for a month in service training in Clinical Pharmacy for hospital pharmacist from more than 65 selected public hospitals of the country organized by PFSA and USAID/SIAPS collaborated with School of Pharmacy of Jimma University to provide short-term in-service training on clinical pharmacy to fill the knowledge and skill gap of practicing pharmacists. Up to know, in collaboration with colleagues, I have trained more than 202 hospital pharmacists from 65 hospitals throughout the country As one of my academic duties, I am actively engaged in research activities. Currently, we are conducting a thematic research in chronic disease, specifically diabetes mellitus titled ‘Self- Care Behavior adherence, Drug Therapy Problems, and Patterns of Hospitalization and Treatment outcome among Diabetic Patients where 3 postgraduate students are working under this university funded research project under my supervision. One postgraduate student is also currently working on Quality of care among Hypertensive ambulatory patients under my advisor ship. Up to know, I have been involved in supervising research undertaking of 11 postgraduate students in Clinical pharmacy. I have been a preceptor for 4 cohorts of PG students’ clinical pharmacy attachments. I have won a 695,000 ETB/close to 35, 000US $) grand mega research project on HIV and Noncommunicable Chronic Disease Comorbidities: - Prevalence, Distribution, Risk Factors among People Living with HIV/AIDs. Health Benefits of Integration of Clinical Care: An institution based study at Jimma University Specialized Hospital as principal investigator which is sponsored by Jimma University Research fund. At my current position as research and postgraduate program coordinator, I am responsible for coordinating three MSc programs, where two of them are of the first in the history of pharmacy education in Ethiopia, in Clinical Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Supply Chain Management and Pharmaceutical quality assurance and regulatory affairs in collaboration with colleagues.
