Biography

Dr. Yamada is a Professor of Health Economics in the Department of Economics at Rutgers University, the State University of New Jersey. Dr. Yamada serves as an Associate Member of the Graduate Faculty, M.A. and Ph.D. program with the Department of Childhood Studies and as a Faculty member of the Center for Children and Childhood Studies at Rutgers University. Prior to his current position at Rutgers University, Dr. Yamada was an Associate Professor with Ritsumeikan University in Japan. His credentials in the area of health economics are quite extensive nationally and internationally, having served as an advisor to the World Health Organization, as an editor or editorial member, as an invited scholar or researcher at universities and institutes both in Japan and in the U.S. Dr. Yamada has about 100 publications in health related fields. Dr. Yamada’s current research includes: economics in areas such as cancer screening behavior and alcohol and drug abuse and access to health care services. He is also interested in governmental health policy in both the U.S. and in international settings.
