Vasileios Koutsos, BSc, PhD, Reader of Materials Science and Engineering at the Institute for Materials and Processes, School of Engineering, University of Edinburgh. Formerly a Marie Curie Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the Laboratory of Condensed Matter Physics in Collège de France (Paris, France, 1998-2000), he holds a BSc in Physics (Physics Department, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, 1992) and a PhD in Polymer Science (Chemistry Department & Materials Science Centre, State University of Groningen, The Netherlands, 1997). VK has authored over 60 international journal and conference proceedings publications including 5 book chapters (3 monographs). He has given over 40 invited talks at international conferences, meetings and seminar series. VK is the director of the Materials Science Research Laboratory which houses state-of-the-art equipment for the characterisation of polymeric materials. He has led, co-led and been involved in a number of funded projects from EPSRC, MRC, EU and industry.
