Dr. Vishnumurthy Shushrutha Hedna, is an Assistant Professor of neurology at the UF College of Medicine and is a key member of the only comprehensive stroke program in north central Florida. Hedna obtained his neurology degree from University of Florida followed by a neurovascular (Stroke) fellowship. Hedna joined the faculty as an assistant professor in 2012. He is board-certified in both neurology and vascular neurology. He is also the associate program director for neurology residency and stroke fellowship. His research interests include stroke from atrial fibrillation, brain edema after stroke, young stroke including Takayasu’s Arteritis, role of neuro-inflammation in stroke and mechanisms of arm paresis in MCA stroke. He currently has publications on all three subjects and was awarded the Best Research Award for outgoing residents at UF in 2011. He is also the recipient of exemplary teacher award for the 2012-13 academic Year from College of medicine, University of Florida.
