Dr. Wanda Goins Brockington is a native of Raleigh, North Carolina. She holds the Bachelor of Arts in English (cum laude) and the Master of Arts in Educational Media from North Carolina Central University and the Ph.D. in Mass Communications from Howard University. Her areas of expertise include Sociolinguistics, language and culture, African Americans and the Internet, and media effects. She is a member of several industry and professional organizations. Dr. Brockington has been teaching for 29 years and has been recognized several times for her excellence in the classroom. She is currently Associate Professor and Chair of the Mass Communications & Journalism Department at Norfolk State University as well as the General Manager of WNSB-FM (Hot 91.1). Dr. Brockington is married to Dr. James E. Brockington, Jr., a retired naval officer and currently the Senior Psychologist at Indian Creek Correctional Center in Chesapeake. The Brockingtons have one son, Jason, a 2003 graduate of Norfolk State University.
