Biography

Dr. Wenping Cao received the Ph.D. degree in electrical machines and drives from the University of Nottingham, Nottingham, U.K., in 2004. He currently holds a Lectureship with Newcastle University, Newcastle upon Tyne, U.K. Prior to this appointment, he was with University of Nottingham and University of Sheffield, U.K. Dr. Cao is a Fellow of Higher Education Academy (HEA), a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and a member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). He serves as Associate Editor for IEEE Electric Machines Committee, IEEE Transactions on Industry applications, IEEE Industry Applications Magazine, as well as an Editorial Board Member for International Journal of Engineering and Technology (IJET) and Energy and Power Engineering (EPE).

Research Interest

His research interests are in electromagnetic design of electrical machines, thermal analysis of power electronics and electric machines, and advanced measurement technologies.
