Will W Minuth
Department of Anatomy
University of Regensburg, Molecular and Cellular Anatomy, Germany
Will Minuth studied at the University of Cologne 19681974 worked as a PhD student at the Free University of Berlin 19741978 was lecturer and assistant professor at the University of Heidelberg 19781989 Since 1989 he is a professor at the University of Regensburg in Germany At the Department of Anatomy he is teaching medical students in Gross Anatomy Microscopical Anatomy and Neuroanatomy The research interest is related to the field of developing renal epithelial barrier function including the action of steroidal hormones The driving force in his present experimental work is the unsolved question if stem/progenitor cells can be applied in future to treat acute or chronic renal failure
The actual research of Dr. Minuth is focusing to renal stem/progenitor cells developing into a functional epithelium under the tubulogenic action of aldosterone. Sophisticated perfusion culture including an artificial interstitium plays an essential role in this hot spot of research. Focus of research is directed to:
Structural aspects of basic tissues
Arise of specific functions in epithelia
Development of stem/progenitor cells
Stem cells within a diseased environment
Creation of an artificial interstitium
Environment of stem/progenitor cells.
