Professor Winnie Nhlengethwa, Ph.D., a specialist in HIV and AIDS, family nurse practitioner and a nurse-midwife at heart and in practice. She is a renowned nurse educator and leader locally and internationally; ensuring that nurse practice and education issues are appropriately embraced in health agenda. Her own research focuses on HIV among seropositive women; condom programming; strengthening of nursing curriculum through integration of HIV and AIDS content; integration of nursing essential core competencies related to HIV and AIDS; adolescent sexual and reproductive health and HIV; strengthening maternal and child health services through piloting concepts of PMTC and M-2-M. She has co-authored manuscripts and books in HIV/AID, four nursing procedure manuals and adolescent sexual and reproductive health. She has also chaired nursing education and practice committees, and University Senate and Council. Most of all, she has led development and implementation of strategic plans for more than 20 years and served in various national and internal boards.
