Liu has been in the field of mind body therapy for approximately 30 years. Being a renowned expert in mind-body medicine, his expertise lies in both research and practice. In past decades, Dr Liu has designed innovative intervention programs to deal with various diseases and made important contributions to public health. He has been working with scientists/clinicians in multidisciplinary fields, including physical activity and sports medicine, alternative and complementary medicine, cardiology, psychology, psychiatry, epidemiology, and bio-statistics. Currently, Dr Liu is working at The University of Queensland School of Medicine (based at Princess Alexandra Hospital) as a Senior Research Fellow, leading a large National Cardiovascular Diseases and Depression Strategic Research Project.
Dr Liu’s passion is to develop gentle, enjoyable, safe and effective mind-body therapies for both prevention and management of chronic disease. One of the key principles of design in these therapeutic programs is the easy transferability from research findings to public health practice. His past and present research interest is in elucidating the best evidence-based translational solutions to chronic disease and improvement of human wellbeing and quality of life.
