Yasuo Maeda was born in Nagoya and completed his graduation in Graduate School of Science, Osaka University, 1967, and got the degree of Doctor of Science from Kyoto University in 1971. Professional positions: Lecturer of Faculty of Science, Kyoto University, 1967-1982. Associate Professor, Biological Institute, Faculty of Science, Tohoku University, 1982-1992. Professor, Biological Institute, Faculty of Science, Tohoku University, and then Graduate School of Life Sciences, 1992-2006. Honorary Professor of Tohoku University, 2006-. Contributions: He successfully organized the 46th Yamada Conference (International Conference on Dictyostelium) held in Sendai. Also, he flourishes as a cooperated member of the Japan Science Council (JSC), 2006-.
