He received his PhD in Chemistry from the University of Missouri-Columbia and completed his post-doc at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Cheng has published over 60 peer reviewed articles. He has served as reviewers for several funding agencies including National Institute of Health (NIH), Department of Defense (DOD) and Department of Energy (DOE). He is also actively serving as a reviewer for over 30 journals and an editorial board member of three journals. Dr. Cheng received Young Investigator Award form Melanoma Research Alliance, New Instigator Award from DOD, and 2009 Best Basic Science Paper from Journal of Nuclear Medicine. Dr. Cheng is currently the head of the Cancer Molecular Imaging Chemistry Laboratory of MIPS where he is developing novel molecular imaging probes, non-invasive imaging techniques and bionanotechnology for the early detection and treatment of cancer.
