Anti Neutrophilic Cytoplasmic Antibody

Anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies are a gaggle of autoantibodies, mainly one of the IgG type, against antigens within the cytoplasm of neutrophil granulocytes  and monocytes. These antigens x=can be  detected as a biopsy during a number of autoimmune disorders, but are particularly related to systemic vasculitis, so called ANCA-associated vasculitides (AAV).

ANCA Antigen

Immunofluorescence (IF) on ethanol-fixed neutrophils is employed to detect ANCA, although formalin-fixed neutrophils could also be wont to help differentiate patterns. ANCA are often divided into four patterns when visualised by IF; cytoplasmic ANCA (c-ANCA), C-ANCA (atypical), perinuclear ANCA (p-ANCA) and atypical ANCA , also referred to as x-ANCA. c-ANCA shows cytoplasmic granular fluorescence with central interlobular accentuation. C-ANCA (atypical) shows cytoplasmic staining that's usually uniform and has no interlobular accentuation
