People with HIV should start taking HIV medicines as soon as possible as HIV treatment continues to improve, people are less likely to have side effects from their HIV medicines. Most of the antiretroviral drugs are taken once a day, with or without food. The ART drugs can have side effects, although newer medications usually don't cause as many.The intake of ART should not be stopped because it could give HIV a chance to get stronger and do more damage.Health care providers carefully consider potential drug interactions before recommending an HIV regimen.Many people living with HIV are taking treatment and staying healthy as a result.
