The theoretical framework is that the structure which will hold or support a theory of a search study. The theoretical framework introduces and describes the idea that explains why the research problem under study exists. A theoretical framework consists of concepts and, alongside their definitions and regard to relevant scholarly literature, existing theory that's used for your particular study.  This type of research includes theorizing or defining how a cyber system and its environment behave then exploring or playing out the implications of how it's defined. This research is very valuable in understanding the bounds, edge cases, and emergent behaviors of a system.  In some scientific fields, theoretical research is so far ahead of engineering and technological progress that experiments to validate or refute them are hundreds of years away. In cyber security research, theoretical work often overlaps with mathematics, logic, or theory of computation; cryptography, of course, is a great example of this.

The theoretical framework is most frequently not something readily found within the literature. The selection of a theory should depend upon its appropriateness, simple application, and explanatory power. The strength of a theory is said to the range of phenomena it can explain and its simplicity. As additional scientific evidence is gathered, a theory could also be modified and ultimately rejected if it can't be made to suit the new findings; in such circumstances, a more accurate theory is then required. That doesn't mean that each one theory is often fundamentally changed (for example, well established foundational scientific theories like evolution, heliocentric theory, cell doctrine, theory of tectonics, germ theory of disease, etc.). A case in point is Newton's laws of motion, which may function an approximation to special theory of relativity at velocities that are small relative to the speed of sunshine. If experimental results contrary to a theory's predictions are observed, scientists first evaluate whether the experimental design was sound, and if in order that they confirm the results by independent replication. A search for potential improvements to the idea then begins. If modifications to the idea or other explanations seem to be insufficient to account for the new results, then a replacement theory could also be required. Since knowledge domain is typically durable, this happens much less commonly than modification. Furthermore, until such a theory is proposed and accepted, the previous theory is going to be retained. This is because it's still the simplest available explanation for several other phenomena, as verified by its predictive power in other contexts.  Also, while new theories could also be proposed by one person or by many, the cycle of modifications eventually incorporates contributions from many various scientists.
