A fungal disease which is caused to the plant of chickpea is called as Didymella rabiei. This disease is also called as Ascochyta Rabiei. a protein related with pathogenesis is induced by infection with this particular disease is isolated from intercellular washing fluid of chickpea leaves. the amino terminal sequence of this particular protein was the typical of a thaumatin like protein. screening of this chickpea complementary DNA is resulted in isolation of complementary DNA clone for this protein. it is a major disease which occurs in the regions of cool cloudy and humid weather conditions during the crop seasons. It causes huge economic loss main Lene during flowering and podding stage of the crop.
