Biochemistry, also called biological chemistry, is the study of chemical processes of living organisms within and linked to them. The nature of life derives from biochemical processes. Biochemistry can be divided into three fields, a subdiscipline of both biology and chemistry; structural biology, enzymology, and metabolism. Through these three disciplines, biochemistry has become successful in explaining living processes in the last decades of the 20th century. Biochemical methods and work are uncovering and improving almost all fields of the life sciences. Biochemistry focuses on understanding the chemical basis that causes biological molecules to give rise to processes occurring inside living cells and between cells , which in turn primarily includes the study and understanding of tissues and organs, as well as the structure and function of the organisms. Biochemistry is closely associated with molecular biology, the study of biological molecular mechanisms.
