Spongy tissue inside some of your bones, such as your hip and thigh bones is known as bone marrow. It consists of stem cells. These stem cells will grow into the RBC (red blood cells) which carry oxygen to the blood and throughout the body, white blood cells that battle infections and platelets is useful in blood clotting. Genetics and environmental factors are the causes of bone marrow diseases. Tests include Bone marrow and blood tests for bone marrow diseases. Treatments depend on the condition and how severe it is. Treatment involves transfusions of blood, medicines or a transplant of bone marrow.
