Cerebrovascular disorders represent a common cause of central nervous system symptoms in cancer patients, second only to metastases. Rarely, cerebrovascular disorder could also be the presenting sign of cancer. These are mostly symptomatic and add to the mortality and morbidity in oncologic patients. With a trend toward a more aggressive approach to cancer management and use of a multimodal approach, there has been an increase in the incidence of therapy-based cerebrovascular complications. If identified early, many of these cerebrovascular disorders, like aneurysms, ischemic stroke, and infections, are treatable. Imaging plays an important role in diagnosis and management of these disorders. Cerebrovascular disorders represent one among the foremost prevalent and devastating diseases of adults. One in every 10 deaths worldwide is due to stroke and more than half of stroke survivors are left dependent on others for everyday activities. While incidence of stroke tends to decrease in some developed countries, it is increasing in other countries and is taking epidemic proportions in developing countries, and the overall prevalence and socioeconomic burden of stroke is tending to extend thanks to worldwide aging of the population. There is a lack of good-quality comparable epidemiological data on stroke incidence and prevalence, especially from developing countries and over a long period of follow-up. The mechanism by which cardiac involvement occurs is related to abnormal autonomic systema nervosum function, primarily a markedly increased sympathetic and parasympathetic output.
