Computational Biology

Computational biology includes the creation and implementation for the study of biological, economic, behavioral , and social systems of data-analytical and theoretical approaches, mathematical modeling and computational simulation techniques. The area is widely defined and includes bases in biology, applied mathematics , statistics, biochemistry, chemistry, biophysics, molecular biology, genetics. The science of using biological data to develop algorithms or models in order to understand biological systems and relationships is computational biology, which includes many aspects of bioinformatics. Biologists have not had access to very large volumes of data so far recently. This data has now become commonplace, particularly in genomics and molecular biology. Researchers have been able to develop analytical methods for analyzing biological information, but have been unable to quickly share it among colleagues.
