Coronary artery disease is the coronary arteries narrowing or blockage basically caused by atherosclerosis. Atherosclerosis also known as "clogging" or "hardening" of the arteries. The buildup of fatty and cholesterol deposits also known as plaques on the arteries inner walls. These plaques can limit the flow of blood to the heart muscle by clogging the artery physically or causing irregular functions and tone of the arteries. Inadequate supply of blood, the heart becomes starved for oxygen and the essential nutrients. This lead to a condition of chest pain known as angina.
