Global Problem

As the only truly universal global organization in the world, the United Nations has become the primary forum for addressing issues that transcend national borders and cannot be resolved by any country acting alone. In its initial objectives of safeguarding peace, protecting human rights, establishing the framework of international justice and promoting economic and social progress, during the seven decades which followed its creation, the United Nations has added new challenges, such as climate change, refugees and AIDS. While conflict resolution and peacekeeping continue to be among its most visible efforts, the United Nations, along with its specialized agencies, is also engaged in a wide range of activities to improve the lives of people in the worldwide - from disaster relief to education and advancement of women.peaceful uses of atomic energy
