Healthcare Informatics

This is software engineering applied to the healthcare field , particularly to the control and use of software on patient healthcare. It is a multidisciplinary field that uses HIT to improve health care through any combination of higher quality , higher efficiency. It covers information technology, computer science , social science, behavioral science, management science, and other disciplines. The National Library of Medicine of the United States (NLM) describes health informatics as "the interdisciplinary study of design , development , implementation and application of IT-based technologies in the delivery, management and planning of health care services." It addresses the resources, devices, and methods required to optimize the acquisition , storage , retrieval, and use of health and bio-medicine information. Health technology resources include, among others, computers, clinical protocols, standardized medical terminology and knowledge and communication systems.
