Radiation therapy is a treatment for cancer and, less commonly, thyroid disease, blood disorders, and noncancerous growths. The term "radiation therapy" generally refers to external beam radiation therapy. During this type of radiation, the high-energy beams come from a machine which is outside of your body that aims the beams at a precise point on your body. Usually if there are any side effects they get improved in few weeks after treatment, but some might leads to continue long term. For most types of radiotherapy to your brain, head or neck area, you need to wear a mask during each treatment.
