The bacteria which are found in symbiotic relationship with many plants is called as rhizobacteria. This bacteria is often called as root associated bacteria. This name of rhizobacteria is originated from the Greek word rhiza which means root. Even though there are many parasitic varieties of rhizobacteria this term is generally referred to that bacteria which forms a relationship which is beneficial for both bacteria and plants. Hence this group of microorganisms are used as bio fertilizers to provide nitrogen supply to plants through roots. Hence these are called as plant growth promoting rhizobacteria. There also helpful in controlling plant diseases which are caused by bacteria and fungi through induced systematic resistance and through production of antifungal metabolites.
