Has systems biology become a highly interdisciplinary field? Eld who created a great enthusiasm in the scienti? Community C. Systems biology is in latest because of its potential to revolutionize not only biology but also medicine. We anticipate developments that will change our way of thinking about the disease and our approach to therapeutic intervention. Perhaps the most daring vision of this future is presented by Dr. Leroy Hood,is president for the Institute of Systems Biology in Seattle. He was a protagonist and the main driver of the underlying concept. - according to Dr. Hood, systems biology will allow a new era of medical care including predictive, preventive, personalized and participatory medicine . Although this vision seems futuristic, it has seduced both university scientists. C communities and R&D organizations in the pharmaceutical industry. Systems biology ultimately attempts to understand biological systems at the molecular level. Examples of such systems are the subcellular regulatory circuits with all their components, cells, organs, as well as pneumatic organisms. Over the past decade, technologies have been developed that allow system level interrogations, for example, pro? Ling, proteomics and metabonomics, to name a few. Scientists have used such platforms to accumulate a huge amount of data. Although we have learned a lot by collecting such detailed information, it seems that our understanding has not increased in the same way.
