Solanum lycopersicum is the scientific name of the vegetable tomato. These species of tomatoes are developed from Western South America and Central America. These tomatoes are botanically classified as berries and is commonly used as a vegetable ingredient or a site and it is also used in preparation of many sauces, salads and drinks and may be consumed raw or cooked. The term tomato is derived from a Spanish word called tomate which means the swelling fruit. Tomato plants are grown as a series of branching stems to which these tomato berries are grown when the tip of the plant eventually stops growing either maybe because of pruning of flowering little buds takeover and grow into vines. These tomato plants are covered with find short hairs to facilitate the vining process turning into roots wherever the plant is in contact with ground and with moisture.
