Antibodies to brain-type creatine kinase are a rare autoimmune disorder that affects the central nervous system. Creatine kinase is an enzyme that is found in cells throughout the body and is involved in the production of energy. There are three types of creatine kinase, with the brain-specific type being CK-BB. In this article, we will explore the causes, symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment of antibodies to brain-type creatine kinase. The exact cause of antibodies to brain-type creatine kinase is not fully understood. However, it is believed that the disorder is caused by an autoimmune reaction, where the immune system mistakenly attacks healthy cells in the CNS.
