Classical Swine Fever (CSF), also known as hog cholera, is a highly contagious viral disease that affects domestic pigs and wild boars. It is caused by the Classical Swine Fever virus, which belongs to the Flaviviridae family. CSF poses a significant threat to the swine industry worldwide, leading to severe economic losses and impacting animal health. In this article, we will explore the characteristics of CSF, its transmission, clinical signs, and the impact it has on animal health. The Classical Swine Fever virus is highly resilient and can survive for extended periods in various environmental conditions. It is transmitted through direct contact between infected and susceptible pigs, as well as through indirect means such as contaminated feed, equipment, and vehicles.
