By understanding the relationship between corporate tax policies and capital structure decisions, firms can make more informed financing choices that optimize their tax position and enhance financial performance.
Capital structure decisions are crucial for firms as they determine the mix of debt and equity used to finance operations and growth. These decisions have far-reaching implications for a firm's financial health, risk profile, and overall value creation. One of the significant factors influencing capital structure decisions is corporate tax policy. Tax policies, which include tax rates, deductions, credits, and incentives, can significantly affect the attractiveness of debt versus equity financing. Understanding the influence of corporate tax policies on capital structure decisions is essential for financial managers.
