FES involves the application of electrical impulses to stimulate muscle contractions, facilitating movement and functional recovery. By activating specific muscle groups, FES can aid in retraining movements that may have been lost post-stroke, thereby enhancing overall mobility and functional capabilities. This article aims to explore current practices in FES application for stroke rehabilitation, the evidence supporting its effectiveness, and future directions that could enhance its integration into rehabilitation protocols [1].
