The COVID-19 pandemic has been an unprecedented global crisis that has impacted nearly every aspect of human life, including the biopharmaceutical industry. Biopharmaceutical companies, engaged in the research, development, and production of drugs and vaccines, have been thrust into the spotlight as the world seeks solutions to combat the virus. However, this intense focus and the unique challenges posed by the pandemic have also led to increased volatility within the industry. In this article, we will assess the changes in volatility among biopharmaceutical companies during the COVID-19 pandemic and discuss the factors contributing to this turbulence. Volatility in financial markets refers to the rapid and significant price fluctuations of stocks or assets. Biopharmaceutical companies, being publicly traded entities, are susceptible to market volatility. The onset of the pandemic triggered a cascade of effects that directly impacted the biopharmaceutical sector.
