The cultivation of lemons in Spain is not only a source of livelihood for thousands of farmers but also a cornerstone of the country's agricultural economy. The commercial success of Spanish lemons hinges upon their ability to meet stringent quality standards and consumer preferences in both domestic and international markets. Quality parameters play a pivotal role in determining the marketability and value of Spanish lemons, influencing factors such as taste, appearance, shelf life and nutritional content. Understanding and optimizing these quality parameters are essential for maintaining the competitiveness and sustainability of Spain's lemon industry. This paper aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the key quality parameters for Spanish lemons of commercial interest, encompassing aspects related to cultivation practices, post-harvest handling, storage conditions and market requirements.
