In this article, we will explore some prevalent lung diseases, their causes, symptoms, and advancements in treatment options.

COPD is a progressive lung disease characterized by persistent respiratory symptoms and airflow limitation. The primary contributors to COPD are smoking, air pollution, and genetic factors. Symptoms include coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath, and chest tightness. While there is no cure for COPD, various treatments aim to alleviate symptoms and improve quality of life. These may include bronchodilators, inhaled corticosteroids, and pulmonary rehabilitation programs. Research is ongoing to develop novel therapies, including anti-inflammatory medications and gene therapies. Asthma is a chronic inflammatory condition of the airways, resulting in recurrent episodes of wheezing, breathlessness, chest tightness, and coughing. Triggers for asthma can include allergens, respiratory infections, and environmental factors.
