Tom Cherian has been in the field of Hepato-biliary surgery and transplantation for over 12 years and has completed his surgical training from two of the oldest transplant units in Europe. He is well versed in all procedures in the field of liver and pancreatic pathology, both for cancer & benign disease. He has significant (>100 cases) experience in advanced pancreatic surgery including Whipples, Beugers and Frey resections; and major liver resections, which include extended trisegmentectomies and is one of few with experience in anatomical laparoscopic liver resections. He has contributed a major role in over 300 Liver Transplants; about 20% of which were in children. Moreover apart from routine cadaveric and living related liver transplants, he has over 4 years of experience in complex transplant procedures (over 80) such as split, domino and auxiliary liver transplants. In fact, due to his extensive experience in King?s College London, he has performed over 30 liver splits in his career which very few other surgeons have achieved. Most importantly he has personally trained many transplant surgeons including consultants from other transplant units, advanced transplant related procedures such as ex-situ liver reduction & splitting, non heart beating multi-organ retrievals & pancreatic /liver resections.
