Dr.Desai obtained her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Biochemistry from University of Mumbai, India. She received her Doctorate in Biochemistry from the University of Mumbai, India. She did her post-doctoral fellowship at the UMDNJ-RWJMS in New Jersey USA. She was a faculty member in the Department of Pharmacology at the UMDNJ/RWJMS till 2007. In 2007, she joined the LSUHSC as Assistant Professor in the Department of Biochemistry &Molecular Biology. She has published 20 papers in reputed journals. She currently serves on the editorial board of the three reputed journals.
