A 2012 National Health Interview survey looking at more than 10,000 children demonstrated the benefit of complementary medicine which included manipulation, supplements, yoga, homeopathy, herbal medicine, massage, meditation and more. Conditions ranged from back and neck pain to head and chest colds, anxiety and stress, ADHD, insomnia and others. Research has demonstrated the placebo and nocebo effects along with the physician's attitude toward the patients as affecting the outcome of the treatment. Integrative medicine (holistic, complementary, alternative, functional and allopathy medicine) seeks to restore, maintain and regenerate health and wellness via a collaborative health care model of unity and using a patient-centered approach. This article proposes a new patient centered integrative and holistic approach to collaborative healthcare for children from newborn to 12 years old. This includes an integration of all fields from mental, emotional, physical, spiritual and allopathic.
