Abstract :

The dynamic nature of the healthcare delivery system increases the demand of the nurses to be abreast with advanced technology. Thus, health care institutions should address needs for continues quality improvement of nursing profession and nursesā?? careers to meet these needs of job market as well as improve the quality of care of health services provided to promote client satisfaction. This study aims to identify institutional needs of required nursing specialties in nursing management and leadership and community health nursing to fill the gaps of lack of highly qualified professional graduate nursesā?? specialists. Further to Explore participants’perceptions in identified specialties in order to meet their needs. The study utilized a cross sectional, descriptive design. It will be conducted in different Saudi institutions include Ministry of Education and Ministry of Planning, Ministry of health and affiliated Hospitals include King Fahd Specialist Hospital, Eye Hospital, Dammam Central Hospital. The sample size for the study was (n=111) respondents. Based on the need assessment it can be concluded that the majority of participant in need to open new master program in both specialties nursing management and leadership and community health nursing with a subspecialty in gerontological nursing. Thus, it is recommended to establish the two mentioned programs and discuss those results with the decision makers at the College of Nursing, in Saudi Arabia.
