Abstract :

There is a higher demand for accountability, education and diving standards in addition to adhering to the advanced changes in land based CSI protocols. The term ?Technologist? is more definitive in that the Technologist specializes in the application of specialized diving procedures and safe diving practices as well as specific scientific knowledge and understanding. Solving both theoretical and practical problems associated with crime scene investigations and forensic science is just one of the specialty fields. Advanced Anatomy and Physiology in victim related stages of decomposition and pathophysiological aspects of hyperbaric exposure and specialized non-oxygenated victim and evidence containment devices. The CSIDT is well trained in the use of the medical legal diver log book, which is designed to be entered into evidence in any court of law. The certified CSIDT is one of the most well trained and safest divers in the industry, using OSHA commercial scientific diving as minimum standards and utilizing specialized diving equipment and crime scene protocols and procedures. The CSIDT undergoes additional training guidelines as set forth by the International Crime Scene Investigators Association and the Hyperbaric Diving Medicine Curriculum. These advancements allow for real time observation by the medical examiner during the investigation. The medical examiner has the same view as the diver and can talk directly to the diver from any location, including his or her office.

Mack S. House is a published author in Forensic Science and considered an internationally reputed expert, speaker and published author in underwater crime scene investigations. He honorably discharged, after serving four years in the United States Navy. Began his career assisting Hobart Wood, M.E. Mecklenburg County, North Carolina and has continued his career by becoming a Certified Law Enforcement Officer, Deputy Sheriff, Anesthesia Technician (ASATT), Tissue Recovery Technician, All prerequisites for the ADN program, CPR Instructor, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, soul designer of a two manned submarine (ASME) certified, CSIDTI Surface Support Vessel (OSHA & Coast Guard).
