Uncertainty in illness has aroused widespread concern in the world, becoming an important topic in nursing research in recent years. However, there was deviation in understanding and using the uncertainty in illness theory and reconceptualization of the uncertainty in illness theory. This study provided in-depth analysis of the connotation and difference between uncertainty in illness theory and reconceptualization of the uncertainty in illness theory. A literature review was performed to describe the current status and explore reasons for the false application of two theories in China. This study provides a reference that these theories may be correctly applied to guiding nursing practice by nursing scholars in China.
