Keynote: J Nurs Care
Nursing care has been the backbone of any Interventional Setup- cardiology angiography suites traditionally and since recent decades, one of the most integral parts of Interventional Radiology suites. Their contribution to the patient care has been multi-faceted from organizing flow of patients through cath lab to assisting in the critical procedures to documentation and finally meeting requirements for regulatory & accreditation bodies. The nursing staffs contribute directly to patient intervention in form of pre-procedural check lists to part/limb marking to intra-procedural injections & documentation & infusion of medicines like maintaining intra-procedural anticoagulation. They can further make vital changes to the suite in form of radiation protection for self and colleagues and patient consent and communication. Finally their contribution in form of disseminating discharge and follow up instructions and updating, preparing for high risk low frequency events (simulation drills), incorporating new guidelines and procedures and QA assessment can be improved with continuous education and involvement.
