Dissolving pulp, also known as chemical cellulose, is utilised in the manufacturing of cellulose derivatives including cellulose acetate, cellulose nitrate, and cellulose ether, amongst other chemical derivatives. By far the largest consumers of dissolving pulp are textile manufactures with the viscose market forming the single largest consumer of dissolving pulp. During the last 10 years global supply of this commodity has increased by 244% from 3.550 million tons in 2009 to 8.655 million tons in 2019, and China has consistently been the largest importer of dissolving pulp. Cross country comparison of dissolving pulp that China imports from various countries show a significant difference in the price of the commodity. This paper analyses the impact of country-of-origin bias on dissolving pulp import prices. Keywords: dissolving pulp commodity; China imports; country-of-origin
