This study was performed to analyze correlation between the instrument on pattern identifications for depression and psychological tests by Pearson correlation coefficient and regression analysis. Two assessors carried out evaluation about the instrument on pattern identifications for depression and performed psychological test (Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI), State-Trait Anger Expression Inventory (STAXI), The Temperament and Character Inventory (TCI), Insomnia Severity Index (ISI_Total), Self-Disclosure Inventory, Subjective Well-being Inventory, Health Perception Inventory, Personality Assessment Inventory (PAI)) targeting 167 participants who got HAM-D score over 12. Our research team carried out Pearson correlation coefficient analyses and regression analysis between pattern identifications for depression and psychological tests and we list up by descending order and interpret result. Through Pearson correlation, stagnation of liver Gi is associated with BDI (0.60), STAI (0.55), dual deficiency of the heart and spleen is associated with BDI (0.60), ISI_Total (0.52), STAI (0.42), relieving stagnation of phlegm-Gi is associated with BDI (0.65), STAI (0.54), subjective well-being inventory (-0.52), Gi-deficiency mingled with sputum is associated with BDI (0.50), ISI_Total (0.40), STAI (0.395), stagnant Gi transforming into fire is associated with BDI (0.56), STAI_TR (0.51), health perception inventory (-0.458), Yindeficiency with effulgent fire is associated with BDI (0.55), ISI_Total (0.54), STAI (0.41). Finally, through associated instrument on pattern identifications for depression and psychological tests. We can suggest system for oriental medical diagnosis objectives to depression
Hwan Kim has his expertise in evaluation and passion in improving the health and wellbeing. He specializes in depression in acupuncture and herbal medicines, moxibustion, psychotherapy, etc., in the Oriental Medicine Psychiatry Department of Daejeon University. The statistical analysis of the relationship between Instrument on Pattern Identifications for Depression developed based on oriental medicine theory and the commonly used psychological tests contributed to the development of medical treatment for depression
