The purpose of this research is to use Jewish ethics dialogs in order to explain human values to AI systems. By identifying the relevant dialogs and feeding them to an AI ethics oracle, the project will develop a unique and novel AI system that will be able to reason about philosophical problems and provide advice to other autonomous systems when facing ethical dilemmas. Jewish ethics has been selected because from ancient to modern times, it has presented as a rich philosophical dialog between students and their teachers as well as between teachers and spiritual leaders and their colleagues. This diverse corpus of human text based on dialog forms a highly valuable framework to train a specific AI system, the modern analogues to the oracle of Delphi that will be able to reason about philosophical problems and hence provide advice to other AI systems. It is expected that the definitions, discussions and description of human ethics and values as it appears in the Jewish texts will be less abstract and more vivid than modern philosophy. Paradoxically it is anticipated that these simple examples will be much easier to be understood by AI systems. Moreover, diversifying the sources of ethics beyond western philosophy is an important and required aspect in pursue of ethical AI systems.
