A rapid, sensitive and specific RP-HPLC method involving UV detection was developed and validated for the estimation of cefixime and cloxacillin in tablet dosage form. The method was validated in terms of linearity, accuracy, precision, specificity, and robustness, limit of detection and limit of quantitation. The mobile phase used was acetonitrile (30 ml) mixed with sodium phosphate buffer (70 ml), whose pH was previously adjusted to 5.0 by sodium hydroxide. The detection of combined dosage form was carried out at 225 nm at constant flow rate of 1.5 ml/min. The retention time of cefixime and cloxacillin were found 1.64 min and 6.27 min a respectively. The method was further validated as per ICH guidelines for the parameters like linearity, precision, accuracy, LOD, LOQ, robustness etc. The proposed method was successfully applied for the quantitative determination of cefixime and cloxacillin in tablet dosage form.
