Drowning is a curse whether it may be accidental or as a consequence of deliberate attempts arising from depression, delirium and other crucial factors. Drowning in suicidal cases results from economic disparity, unable to meet the living standards in the society, to keep one?s head high and chronic diseases which are not curable at all. When a case of drowning comes in the notice of investigating agency, same is bound to focus its immediate attention even on the minor circumstantial evidences in the form of vital physical clues which have to be screened meticulously to decide the fate of investigation i.e. slippery slopes, pieces of ropes, blood stains etc. If blood stains are prevalent on the slopes of the bunds of rivers, ponds, canals, rain-puddles, tanks, wells and ditches, then it becomes obligatory that the particular person has been murdered and thrown into water. Therefore, emphasis has been laid on the queries to be sought with well concerted efforts by searching the vital clues and discriminating the same from superfluous evidences. As an expert, during visit at the crime scene, place of occurrence was cordoned off and minute observations were duly made to collect significant clues corroborating the incident to derive the authenticity and appropriate conclusion. Before proceeding ahead, one should not forget to distinguish between two types of drowning i.e. suicidal and homicidal drowning which will certainly mark the sequence of events and further lead to truthful opinion linked with the case in providing assistance to the justice delivery system.
