Abstract :

Besides the well-known advantages, EVAR has also some disadvantages and limitations. Due to this, OR is the first treatment option for patients with: • degenerative AAA and long life expectancy; • complex AAA anatomy that are unsuitable for standard EVAR; • inflammatory AAA and associated hydronephrosis; • mycotic AAA; • completely thrombosed AAA; • associated accessory renal arteries that required preservation; • connective tissue disorders; Referral to high-volume centers should be considered for repair of AAA, while younger generations of vascular surgeons have to be educated both in endovascular and in open aortic surgery.

Biography :

Lazar B. DavidoviÄ? born March 6, 1958, vascular surgeon, Director of the Clinic for Vascular and Endovascular Surgery KCS. which, like him personally, has the world’s largest series of ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysms, and is one of the few European institutions that routinely deals with thoracoabdominal aortic surgery. The clinic was accredited by the International Union of Angiology in 2017, and in the same year it was declared a “national aortic center”. He is a full professor at the Ministry of Finance in Belgrade, and a visiting professor at the Ministry of Finance in Genoa, Plzen, Skopje and Larissa. He is the President of the European Society of Cardiovascular Surgery (ESCVS): 2016-18 as the first surgeon from Southeast Europe. Winner of the MF plaque in Belgrade-2016, several SLD awards, and the annual Belgrade-2016 award years.
