The aim of this study was to throw the light on Emotional Intelligence, Trait Anger and Coping Strategies among HIV positive patients. A sample of 60 (30 males, 30 females) were selected from Yashwantrao Chavan Hospital Pune City. All were able to understand Hindi and Marathi language. Forward backward processing was done to avoid language barrier. After establishing rapport confidentiality assured, assessment interviews and intervention took place. Time interval was given to avoid fatigue. The tools used for the study were Emotional Intelligence scale (Thingujam and Usha, 2000), STAXI-II (Speilbergar, 1999) and ways of Coping Questionnaire (Lazarus and Folkman, 1988). Research design was between group designs. After the data collection statistical analysis was done by Pearson?s product moment correlation and?t? test in SPSS. The results found that it was observed that there is low negative correlation between Trait Anger and Emotional Intelligence. It was observed that there is negative correlation between Emotional Intelligence and Emotion focused coping. It was observed that there is positive correlation between Trait Anger and Emotion focused coping. There is no significant gender difference found on Emotional Intelligence Trait Anger and Emotional Focused Coping. The finding of the study could provide a better understanding of HIV patient?s mental health, adherence issues and their well being.
