Abstract :

Albany State University is a Historically Black College and University (HBCU) in rural southwest Georgia in the USA. Most students are African, Americans and the first persons in their families to attend college. In addition, they almost all are on financial aid because of limited family income. The challenge for the department of nursing is how to incorporate global health information into their classes. The United States is a melting pot of many different races and ethnic groups. It is imperative that students learn how to function in a global society. This presentation will provide the strategies used by Albany State University to prepare their nursing students to function at a high level in todayâ??s healthcare environment.
